'Trapped in a Dreadful Dream': Families of Unaccounted For Young People Await Answers After Ski Resort Fire
The loved ones of teenagers lost after a deadly inferno at a bar in a Swiss alpine town are enduring an agonising period of uncertainty for official news and requesting clues about their family members publicly.
The blaze ripped through the a popular bar in the alpine resort, located in the Swiss Alps of the Valais region, in the middle of the night of January 1st. Verified images reveal the ceiling being engulfed in flames as beverages with sparklers are held aloft.
Emergency services have stated that it could take an extended period to identify the those who perished of the disaster, which killed 40 people and hurt another over a hundred. A spokesperson stated on the latest update that 113 of the those hurt have been identified, with efforts ongoing to locate the remaining few.
In the meantime, relatives have been posting on online platforms to plead for clues about their friends who were in attendance that evening.
Heartbreaking Pleas for the Unaccounted For
The fate of teenager from Switzerland Arthur Brodard, 16, are not yet determined, according to an appeal from his mother.
The resident of a town near Lausanne, told a local newspaper that she had gone back to Lausanne to check whether he was in the hospital, while his other parent did the same in the capital, but could not find him.
"I'm living a nightmare, a nightmare. The options are finding my son in the morgue, or I find him in intensive care. Words cannot describe it," she stated.
She added that some of his friends had been located with injuries covering nearly half their bodies. "There are no words; they endured an absolute nightmare."
The Italian government has indicated that six of its citizens have not been located.
One of those is Emanuele Galeppini, a teenage sportsman, who hailed from Genoa but now residing in Dubai.
The national sporting body has released a tribute that he is deceased, without mentioning the tragedy, paying tribute to a "young athlete who represented dedication and authentic values."
His father, reportedly stated that his son was at the bar and was last heard from around midnight. An representative has indicated that a official announcement of his death is still pending.

Giovanni Tamburi, sixteen, is likewise among the missing. His parent said that he had been on holiday but had ventured out with a group and found himself at the venue.
