The network's Leading Fresh Series of 2025 Earns a Major Extension for an Additional Two Seasons.

Last October, Adult Swim welcomed back its offbeat hit, Smiling Friends. However, later that same month, the network introduced a fresh animated series with a markedly softer vibe. Haha, You Clowns was heartwarming and calm, in the spirit of a animated take of a serene talk show. In an era often characterized by cynicism, this show's wholesomeness struck a chord and helped it become a surprise hit.

A Significant Investment

On December 18th, Adult Swim confirmed a big renewal: Haha, You Clowns has been greenlit for two more seasons. This provides creator Joe Cappa a massive runway to develop the story of the Campbell family. The series centers on three polite teenage brothers whose central trait is their deep love for their single father, with Cappa portraying for all four main characters.

"I am incredibly thankful to the audience of the show who welcomed the series and spread the word," stated Cappa. "It's thrilling that I get to continue exploring the Campbell household for seasons to come."

Executive Acclaim

In the same announcement praise from Adult Swim president Michael Ouweleen, who described the series as "radically heartfelt and oddly captivating." He specifically highlighted the fans who embraced the show and supported its uniquely offbeat appeal.

"All of you showed up for this new show, championed for it on social media, and helped it grow week over week so we could approve not one, but two more seasons," noted Ouweleen. "To quote: 'You are strong! You are loved!'"

A Comforting Counterpoint

Earlier this fall, Haha, You Clowns was described as "a wholesome alternative" to more cynical adult animated fare. It offers something deeply soothing about watching this endearing family go about their simple existence.

Previously, creator Joe Cappa shared his goal to help comedy break out of its current cynical streak. He traced this trend to the rise of certain blockbuster franchises.

“There's this level of irony that we can't get ourselves out of,” explained Cappa. “It feels as if we have to know we’re the cleverest viewer in the room when we're watching stuff. I feel like we've been doing this for too long, and we need to laugh at something different now. Comedy has to evolve.”

What Comes Next

Now, with Haha, You Clowns guaranteed to return, Cappa has the opportunity to be part of that very evolution. Or at the very least, the renewal guarantees audiences a little more time to enjoy the warm glow of the endearing Campbell clan.

The final episode of Season 1 of Haha, You Clowns is scheduled to air on December 21st. All episodes is ready to watch on HBO Max.
