The former Liverpool manager admits rejoining to coach Liverpool is theoretically possible.
The German coach, who departed from Anfield in 2024, indicated that a future comeback remains a possibility. The 58-year-old, following a hugely successful nine-season tenure which brought Champions League success and the Premier League crown in 30 years, currently occupies roles overseeing worldwide football within the Red Bull organization and as an advisor for the DFL.
Supporters’ Hopes and His Frank Comments
The club claimed England's top flight in the previous campaign, but many fans who revere Klopp would be thrilled by the idea that he might come back one day. During an extensive chat, he told his interviewer: “I stated I refuse to lead another team in England. Which implies if then it’s Liverpool...yeah. Theoretically it’s possible.”
“Being 58, that means I might decide down the line, it's uncertain. Is a decision required immediately? In that case, I'd stay away. Fortunately, I don’t have to do that. I'll simply watch how things unfold.”
What Would Lure Him Back?
Questioned regarding what circumstances would have to unfold to bring him back to the dugout, he revealed he isn't eager toward coming back. “It's unclear to me, My present work fulfills me,” he stated. “I don't crave being a coach; I don’t miss standing in the rain through long matches; No need for interviews multiple times weekly or having 10-12 interviews a week.
“No nostalgia for the changing area as a dressing room, however, dining out with the players having a nice chat, that’s nice. We won a lot of games so there was often great spirits around the place. I can still hear the captain's chuckle vividly recalled for example.”
Praise for His Successor
He commended for his successor, praising him for the adjustments that took the title last campaign. They've been defeated a string of losses in every contest after a summer spending spree, yet he dismissed the idea it could be a decline.
“[Liverpool have] a phenomenal forward in Flo[rian] Wirtz, doubters will be silenced with negative comments. He’s an incredible talent. Ekitike, superb talent. They have a strong well-judged squad. Fans shouldn't fret over the club, things will improve.”
Heartfelt Words for the Late Forward
The manager expressed deep feeling about the death of Diogo Jota, a player he signed during his tenure, and its impact for the team. The forward lost his life in a road accident alongside his brother in July.
“Can you substitute a person like him? It goes beyond his on-field talent, it's his character. I can’t imagine the squad without him in it. I still cannot speak properly on this topic. It was an incredible shock for his teammates also. Not a single person will ever use it to justify results yet it's the reality. You walk in a dressing room where he was omnipresent. Coping with it emotionally is challenging. Impossible.”
