Jennifer Lawrence States Speaking About Trump Would ‘Worsen the Situation’ Tearing the Nation Apart

The star has revealed that she no longer feels suitable to comment publicly regarding the Trump presidency, fearing it could intensify divisive discussions and increase separation within the nation.

‘I Don’t Really Know If I Should’, Notes Jennifer Lawrence

During a discussion, the Oscar winner commented, “During the first Trump administration, I thought I was moving hastily like a chicken with my head cut off. But as we’ve learned, over multiple voting cycles, Hollywood stars do not make a difference in any way on who people vote for.”

The actor went on, “So then what am I doing? I’m just voicing my thoughts on something that’s going to worsen tensions that’s ripping the nation apart.”

Political Evolution

Lawrence has previously been open about supporting conservative and liberal presidential nominees in past elections. Raised by conservative Republicans in her home state, she supported John McCain in 2008 then moving to the Democratic party and revealing she understood during President Obama’s term that voting Republican was voting against her own rights as a woman.

Past Statements

In 2015, she stated that Trump winning the presidency could represent “the end of the world” and publicly supported the Democratic candidate in the 2020 election. In the latest campaign, she lent her support to Kamala Harris, “since I believe she’s an excellent choice and I am confident that she will take all necessary steps to defend reproductive rights.”

Industry Position

The star was supported by numerous celebrities in her disapproval of Trump as a presidential contender, but the limited influence public figures have over the voting intentions was emphasized by the outcome.

“This upcoming term feels different,” said Lawrence regarding his administration. “Because he stated his intentions. We knew what he did for his first term. He was transparent. And that’s the option selected.”

Current Projects

Lawrence is highlighting her new film, director Lynne Ramsay’s project in which she stars as a recent parent who deals with her emotional state in the countryside. Speaking at a media event for the movie in the film festival, Lawrence spoke about Israel’s bombings in Gaza: “I feel fear. It’s horrifying. What’s taking place is no less than a atrocity and it’s horrible.”

Additional Thoughts

She continued by saying that she was saddened by “the lack of civility in the discourse of the political landscape at present and how that is going to be commonplace to the younger generation now. It’s going to be typical to them that elected officials deceive.”

The actor sought to redirect anger about the conflict to decision-makers rather than celebrities. “Keep attention on those accountable,” she advised, seen by observers as a reference to the declaration endorsed by numerous Hollywood professionals to refuse engagement with certain cultural organizations.

Personal Connections

The actor, who received an Academy Award early in her career for her performance in her breakout movie, is attracting awards attention for her portrayal in Die, My Love. Although Ramsay has denied the story being seen as one of maternal mental health issues and mental illness, Lawrence said that she did relate to elements of her role’s experience after the delivery of her second son, not long after shooting ended.

“There was concern for my son,” she explained, “just picturing every worst-case scenario, and then questioning everything that I was trying. I was seeing a therapist, but I got on a treatment called that medicine and I used it for two weeks and it was effective.”

Film Challenges

The actor also discussed of the empowering aspect of shooting revealing sequences in the film while she was some months pregnant and couldn’t work out.

“It feels nice,” she remarked, about having to cast off vanity. “Honestly, I sometimes think where I’m like, What technically are the differences between myself and a sex worker? But it doesn’t trouble me deeply.”
