A female accused with stalking Kate McCann reportedly deposited her a voicemail message which asked: "suppose I am Madeleine?"

Julia Wandelt, twenty-four, who a jury heard has persistently claimed she was the missing Madeleine McCann, and Karen Spragg are on trial charged with stalking Kate and Gerry McCann between June 2022 and February the current year.

On Monday, Leicester Crown Court heard call records and data recovered from phones documented Ms Wandelt consistently requesting Madeleine's mother for a DNA test during that period.

Madeleine's case in 2007 - when she was three years old during a vacation in Portugal - is among the most publicized missing child cases and continues to be unsolved.

'I Don't Want Money'

Another recorded message, shared in court, documented Ms Wandelt stating: "I realize I'm fat and unattractive like Madeleine was, but I feel what I know."

While one recording of Ms Wandelt's recordings with Mrs McCann's recording expressed: "Imagine there is a slight possibility that I am she? What happens next? Is that not significant for you?"

"I do not need money, I maintain a existence here in Poland, I simply desire to discover," the recording stated.

The tribunal was told that through electronic messages, text messages and communications, Ms Wandelt demanded a biological test, sent early photographs to her phone in a bid to show a resemblance to Mrs McCann's vanished daughter, and claimed to have "memories" from a childhood with the McCanns.

Robert Jones, an investigator with the police force who compiled the evidence, informed the court there "didn't appear to be any answers" from Mrs McCann.

Ms Wandelt additionally reached out to acquaintances of the McCanns, as per the phone records.

On that date, Mr McCann responded to a phone call from Ms Wandelt to his wife's phone, declaring she had "the wrong phone."

On that occasion Ms Wandelt deposited a message on Mrs McCann's answerphone stating "I will persist and I will prove my claim."

The court was informed the co-defendant established a relationship through digital means with Ms Wandelt prior to accompanying her on a appearance to the McCanns' property in that area in December 2024.

Call logs revealed Mrs Spragg had contacted via WhatsApp to Mrs McCann to state the press had depicted Ms Wandelt as "mentally unstable" but that she should be considered genuine in the months preceding the appearance to Rothley, the county, in December 2024.
